A coalition of youth groups known as Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed Vanguard (BAM-V), has congratulated the Bauchi State governor, Bala Muhammed, for emerging victorious in the Appeal Court’s verdict delivered on Friday in Abuja that affirmed the judgement of the Election Tribunal and upheld his election as the validly elected governor of Bauchi State.

The group in a press statement signed by its director-general, Comrade Mohammed Jibo Abubakar and made available to journalists in Abuja on Sunday, described the verdict as a confirmation of Bauchi peoples’ votes for good governance and progress.

It called on the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), in the state and its gubernatorial candidate for March 18, 2023 governorship election, Ambassador Saddique Baba Abubakar, to accept the verdict and join hands with the Governor Mohammed in taking the state to greater heights.

“The overwhelming votes of the electorate in the state is a reward for Governor Mohammed’s craftsmanship in good governance, progress and development evidenced in the last four years of the Governor’s stewardship in the state. Bauchi State has never seen this level of development it is witnessing since 29th May, 2019 when Governor Mohammed assumed the mantle of leadership in the state.

“The Appeal Court verdict is not only a well-deserved victory for the Governor, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state and their supporters, but also substantial justice to the people of Bauchi State who freely gave the Governor their mandate through the ballot on March 18, 2023,” BAM-V said.

The group, a coalition of various youth groups for democracy and good governance, stated that the saying that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man is not mere saying as the judgement of both the tribunal and appellate court confirmed the wish, hope and desire of the people of Bauchi State for continuous development of the state as expressed through their votes to put Governor Bala Mohammed in office for a second term.

It said, “Bauchi State lagged behind in development for too long before Governor Bala Mohammed came onboard on May 29, 2019. During his first tenure, the Governor was able to change the narratives with the level of unprecedented development he brought to the state, making Bauchi State a pride for all. The state as of today can stand shoulder to shoulder with its peers in terms of development in all sectors, including education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, good governance, among others.

“The fact that the people of the state acknowledged Governor Mohammed’s giant strides in Bauchi State within four years of his first term made them vote massively for him in the March 18 Governorship poll in order to continue with his progressive governance aimed at further improving the fortunes of Bauchi State.”
