Following increasing numbers of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)  in Niger State and associated humanitarian crises, Society for Alleviation of Rural Poverty and Integrity of Peaceful Coexistence (SARPIC) has urged well-meaning Nigerians to assist the state in catering for the victims, even  as 1000 IDPs get humanitarian support from the organization.

The chief executive officer of the society  John Bawa said that the internally displaced persons were faced with hunger, lack of clothes among others that called for serious humanitarian support from well-meaning individuals.

Bawa who spoke when he donated clothes worth thousands of Naira to the IDPs  in Maikunkele, Bosso local government area of the state said assessment by his organisation showed that most of the IDPs who were farmers left their homes with only clothes they were  wearing when bandits attacked their communities.

He said in his organisation’s small contributions, over 1000 IDPs in Niger State have benefitted from the humanitarian support solicited from individuals in the last three months.
