30 Die In Auto Crash Along Zaria-Kano Highway

No fewer than 30 persons died in an auto crash along the Zaria – Kano expressway Thursday evening near Hawan Mai Mashi in Makarfi local government area of Kaduna State.

Assistant corps commander in charge of Zaria Zone of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Abdurahman Yakasai who confirmed the accident to journalists, said 12 of the passengers sustained serious injuries in the auto crash which involved two Toyota 18-Seater buses and a Volkswagen Gulf.

“Those that sustained injuries have been rushed to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) Shika Zaria by our men, while the remains of the deceased were evacuated and deposited at the hospital morgue.
The unit commander who attributed the auto crash to dangerous overtaking and over speeding said the FRSC was yet to ascertain the registration numbers of the vehicles because the vehicles were burnt to ashes.
He however assured that efforts were being made to obtain the manifest and additional details of the victims.
