A group, the Global Youth Skills Acquisition and Poverty Eradication Organisation (GYSAPEO), has called on the federal government to support its initiative to combat poverty among 10 million Nigerians.

The president of GYSAPEO, Dr. Ozegbe Emmanuel stated this yesterday in Abuja, during the unveiling of the NGO’s project tagged: “Prosperity Assured Economic Initiative” in Abuja yesterday.

Emmanuel said they target to empower rural communities through various initiatives, especially focusing on agriculture, health, and economic development.

He said one of the projects titled: “Grow Naija Feed the World” aims to uplift smallholder farmers, tackling issues like climate change, and ensuring healthier food production.

He said partnering with the government and insurance companies reflects a holistic approach to address challenges faced by rural communities, ranging from farming techniques to health care access.

Emmanuel said the organisation has so far budgeted about N5 billion to carry out the project.

He further said in the aspect of insecurity, they have carried out a project called ‘You Alert,’ when you see something, say something.

The advisory board chairman of GYSAPEO, Mr. Steve Okoh, who spoke during the inauguration of its new board of trustees and advisory board, asserted that the whole essence of the project is to empower the rural community.

He said the rural communities are agrarian communities where farming is what a lot of people do.

Okoh also noted that one of the areas people in rural areas face, at the end of every year of farming is lack of technical know-how, and good road and market networks.
