Yobe Assembly Extends Tenure of LG Chairmen By 6 Months

The Yobe State House of Assembly has extended the tenure of chairmen and members of the caretaker management committee of the local governments for a period of six months.
The House extended the period of the chairmen and members of the management committee in a motion which was presented by the executive arm of government requesting the House for the confirmation of the re-appointment of the chairmen
The Leader of the House, Hon Nasiru Hassan Yusuf, who moved the motion on the floor of the House, disclosed that the confirmation of the re-appointment of the chairmen and members of the management committee followed the expiration of their six months tenure.
According to him, the constitution has empowered the House to extend the tenure of the chairmen and members of the caretaker management committee pending the election of the executive chairmen of the local governments in the state.
Presiding over the sitting, the speaker of the House Alhaji Chiroma Buba Mashio called on the chairmen to work hard to ensure more dividends of democracy to people of rural areas.
