Yobe State House of Assembly has extended the tenure of chairmen and members of the caretaker management committee of the local governments for the period of six months.

The House extended the period in a motion which was presented by the executive arm of government requesting for the confirmation of the re-appointment of the chairmen.

Leader of the House, Hon. Nasiru Hassan Yusuf who moved the motion on the floor of the House, disclosed that the confirmation of the re-appointment of the chairmen and members of the management committee followed the expiration of their six months tenure.

According to him, the constitution has empowered the House to extend the tenure pending the election of the executive chairmen.

Presiding over the sitting, the speaker of the House, Alhaji Chiroma Buba Mashio, called on the chairmen to work hard to ensure more dividends of democracy for people in rural areas.
