Abia Charges Business Council To Increase Revenue

The Abia State government has charged the state business council to harness the abundant mineral deposits across the state to shore up its internally generated revenue.

 

The deputy governor and chairman of the council, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, stated this yesterday at a meeting with members of the council at the Government House, Umuahia.

 

This is even as the Economic Community of West African States representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, Mr Jean Bakole, is to present the state industrial policy document to the government.

In addition, he appealed to them and business entrepreneurs in the state to use their positions to attract investors in line with the resolutions of the Federal Executive Council and the Governor’s Forum.
He mandated the ministries, departments, agencies and their agents to upload their activities to the state’s site to enable it benefit from the federal government/World Bank Fund to enhance the ease of doing business.
Chukwu, who assured that the present administration in the state would do all on its part to ensure ease of doing business, stressed that the council must think outside the box to deliver.
In his presentation, the state’s focal person on social investment programme, Mr Chinenye Nwaogu, said the federal government was desirous of improving business and creating enabling environment for local and foreign investors.
