Pyrates, Foundation Donates Walking Aids To Abuja Community

The National Association of Seadogs (NAS) Pyratres Confraternity,Sahara Deck, in partnership with the Steve Surulere Saheed Foundation (SSSF),has donated crutches and a wheelchair to Persons With Disabilities(PWD), at the Karon – Majigi disabled community in Abuja.

The gesture is a significant initiative on the 2023 International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The Capoon, Sahara Deck Olamide Oni, speaking during the distribution of the crutches on Saturday, explained that the purpose was to provide relief, and lift the burden on the PWDs.

“We are here to commemorate the International Day of Persons living with Disabilities,in partnership with Steve Surulere Saheed Foundation,this act is our commitment to showcase humanity,give humans dignity and also help the less privileged in our society.We discovered people living in this community and noted things that they needed,and we came here to support them in our own way.

“We also want to use the opportunity to put a spotlight on this community and also call on government agencies who are in charge of this place to step up their game and ensure the provision of adequate health care facilities and social amenities for this community.”

Oni noted that the National Association of Seadogs (Sahara Deck), donated thirty five crutches and one wheelchair to the community and added that the items were purchased at a cost of four hundred and forty eight thousand naira.

Chairman, board of trustees,Steve Surulere Saheed Foundation Steve Agboyinu, said the partnership with (NAS), became necessary to support PWD’s in the community on the 2023 International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

On his part,Public Relations Officer of the Disability Colony Ibrahim Sagir, expressed gratitude to NAS and SSSF,for donating walking aids to the community in commemoration of the 2023 International Day of Persons with Disabilities,and also called on the government and other well meaning Nigerians to support and cater for various needs of the community.
