Director-general, National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM), Dr Olushola Odusanya, has emphasised the need for a regulatory framework for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Nigeria.

He stated this during an open policy dialogue on Artificial Intelligence in the Public Sector.

Odusanya said the centre felt the need to gather all the necessary organs of government in order to begin the first stages of policy development and hopefully develop a framework that will help in the use of the powerful technology.

He said the job of NACETEM is to help the government plan better and give eyes to the government so that those who make decisions will make informed decisions.

According to him, “The use of such technology is spreading within public service. We have public service organisations like the military and all of that they are using special intelligence and the question remains, do we have a framework for use of such powerful technology, do we even understand the boundary of such technology?
