A political group under the aegis of South West Agenda (SWAGA) in alliance with the North Central Agenda (NCA) 2023, has distributed palliatives to over 2000 vulnerable persons, comprising women and persons with disabilities across the 23 Local Government Area of Benue State, as a token of appreciation for voting Bola Tinubu as the President of Nigeria during the 2023 elections.

The National Chairman of the group, Sen. Dayo Adeyeye in a remark, disclosed that the gesture is to show the group’s appreciation to the people of Benue, especially the vulnerable, for supporting the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 general elections, which gave the party overwhelming victory at the national and across the states.

He said, “Our aim of coming to Benue after campaigns and elections is to show our token of appreciation and commend the people for their vision, passion and action to which they voted overwhelmingly to produce Bola Tinubu as the President, Rev, Fr. Hyacinth Alia as governor and the host of others for the State and National Assembly.”

He described it as a clear demonstration that “you were all out to chose leaders that can revive and fix the country”

While calling on Benue people to exercise patience with President Tinubu, who is poised to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of Benue, the chairman said the president has Benue at heart and he will do everything possible to ensure that the state take its rightful place in the political space of the country.

*I want to assure you that good things will soon start to arrive Benue for everyone to reap the benefit of choosing courageous leaders with integrity, and I am confident that Governor Alia, with the support of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, and President Tinubu, Benue will arise again and be repositioned strategically to reap the fruits of its labour,” he said.

“Gone are the days where after elections everybody disappears. We came during campaigns, made promises to come back and thank people for their support and that is why we are here to tell you that Benue will smile again, the palliatives we are giving today is just a token to appreciate you for standing with the party and with what we saw within a short notice, we believe the second term bid for Asiwaju is real when the time comes”

Also speaking the state coordinator SWAGA, who is also the Commissioner for Sports and Youths Development, Terkimbi Ikyange, who commended the group for keeping to their campaign promises, said the palliative brought will be shared to all vulnerable groups across the 23 Local Government Areas in Benue.

Earlier, Governor Alia who spoke through his deputy, Sam Ode, commended the group for the thank you visit, describing the gesture as first of its kind since the return of democracy in Benue.

“What you did today in Benue is the first of its kind in the history of politics. In Benue, for someone to campaign, win election and come back to thank the people for their support; we are going to document this act of Thanksgiving, and I want to assure you that as a pace setter and political soothsayer of the country the re-election of Asiwaju is a forgone issue in Benue,” he said.
