The indigenous people of Abuja under the auspices of Concerned FCT People’s Assembly have passed a vote of confidence on the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over the impact of his programmes and policies that have made Abuja the home of all.

The natives in their Gbagyi traditional attires rolled out cultural drums and traditional masquerades to show their solidarity with the FCT Administration.

The natives who carried placards, were led by Ahmed Nda-Yakubu who described last week’s protest against Wike as efforts of land grabbers who are getting out of their calculations as a result of people-oriented policy, saying the call for Wike to quit office is a signal that corruption is fighting back the system.

“The FCT minister is a man of action who has in the last few months, kicked the ball rolling in the right direction, with the indigenes and residents of FCT calling on the perpetrators of this crime against FCT minister, that the FCT minister Nyesom Wike, has a lot of job to do in FCT,” he said.

“He should not be distracted so that he can replicate what he did in Rivers State, for us, as he was tested and trusted by residents and indigenes of FCT we are here to pass the vote of confidence for the impact the minister is making to make FCT a home for all where our right as indigenes and residents will be protected.

The solidarity movement was organised after last week’s protest where a group of protesters called on the National Assembly not to pass the N15 billion naira proposed budget for the completion of the official residence of the Vice President as well as the 2023 Supplementary budget for the FCT Administration.

Nda-Yakubu accused the unknown faces contractors and land grabbers of being behind the previous protest, emphasising that the sponsors of the protest are fighting back since the FCT minister had blocked the means of enriching themselves, they urged the minister to keep up the good work his administration his doing in the territory.

“The said protest is said to be that corruption is fighting back, the FCT, minister who is trying to restore the FCT from its loss in hands of land grabbers, with fake companies,” he said.

The coordinator of the assembly, Cyril Ukabil, who commended the minister for his policy in rejuvenating process of getting a certificate of occupancy, said such a policy has made Nigerians rekindle their hope in the present administration, believing that they will get their certificate of occupancy on any of their title documents within a short time.

Ukabil said the FCT minister has shown capacity, excellent capacity and productivity, while asking him to look into issues of resettlement, reallocations, transportation system, primary health care system, and welfare of the workers among others.
