The President of MAAUN Group of Universities, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has commiserated with the President of the Niger Republic, General Abdourahamane Tiani, over the death of his father, Elhadji Tiani Hassane, who died on Thursday, November 5, 2026, in Niamey at the age of 110.

Gwarzo described the death of the centenarian as a painful loss to the Tiani family and the people of Niger Republic, noting that his long life and contributions to his family and society represented an enduring legacy.

He said the deceased lived through more than a century of history and played an important role in raising his family and instilling in his children the values of discipline, integrity and responsibility.

According to him, the values passed on by the late Elhadji Tiani remain evident in his children, particularly President Tiani, whose leadership continues to shape the affairs of the Republic of Niger.

Gwarzo said the death of an elder who lived for more than a century also represented the loss of a generation whose experiences and wisdom contributed to society.

“Although Elhadji Tiani Hassane lived a fulfilled life at the remarkable age of 110, his passing remains a painful loss to his family and the people of Niger Republic. A father’s greatest legacy is not only the number of years he lives but also the values he instils in his children and the positive impact those values have on society,” he said.

On behalf of the MAAUN Group of Universities and his family, Gwarzo extended his condolences to President Tiani, the bereaved family, and the government and people of the Niger Republic.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, accept his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.

He also prayed for strength, patience and fortitude for President Tiani and the family to bear the loss.
