Management of the Ibese Plant of Dangote Cement has reassured that it would not renege in its pledge towards ensuring the infrastructural, as well as socio-economic development of the 17 host communities where it currently does business in Ogun State.
The Ibese Plant Director of the cement factory, Azad Nawabuddin gave the assurance in his remark at the year 2023 edition of the Dangote Cement Community Day Celebration held in Ibese, in the Yewa South Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking at the event, which witnessed a convergence of top government officials, traditional rulers, as well as stakeholders in the Dangote Group business conglomerate, Nawabuddin said his company’s year 2023 empowerment programmes were principally targeted at youths, women, farmers and students of the plant’s host communities.
Emphasizing that the empowerment programmes was in line with the Dangote Cement’s thematic focus of Education, Health, Infrastructure and Empowerment, Nawabuddin declared that his company has recorded remarkable progress in the implementations of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
“Let me assure you that our resolve to continue to contribute to the development of host communities, in line with the Community Development Agreement, remains unshaken, while we hope that you would continue to reciprocate by supporting our operations. Our desire is an unblemished relationship between the communities and our Plant”.
The event however, had a total number of 349 Indigenes of the 17 host communities benefiting from the four multi-million Naira empowerment schemes unveiled by the plant where 103 indigent but brilliant Secondary Schools and tertiary institutions students across the 17 host communities were given scholarship awards.
