During a homecoming reception ceremony in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, despite the challenges faced by the nation.

The event was organized to honour the immediate past Nigeria High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sharafa Tunji-Ishola, who served as an ambassador under President Muhammadu Buhari from January 2021 until his recall on August 31, 2023, by President Bola Tinubu.

In a recorded video message during the gathering, Pastor Adeboye commended Ambassador Ishola, mentioning that he was the first ambassador to invite him to the Nigerian House in the UK.

The cleric shared insights about the significance of October 1st, highlighting its relevance in the Biblical calendar. He referenced the ‘Feast of Trumpets,’ asserting that many Bible scholars believe Jesus Christ might return to the world on October 1st, although the exact year remains unknown.

Pastor Adeboye emphasized that Nigeria holds a special place in God’s plan, correlating the country’s turbulence with its historical choice of Independence Day. He suggested that the nation’s resilience, even in the face of challenges, could be attributed to divine intervention.

“Nigeria is a very special country. It will amaze you to know that the most amazing date in the Biblical calendar is 1st October. That is the day that is called – the feast of trumpets – and many Bible scholars believe that the most likely date that Jesus will come back again to earth will be October 1, but the year we don’t know,” Pastor Adeboye remarked.

“Sometimes when you think by tomorrow, there will be no more Nigeria, you will wake up the next day and still find out that Nigeria is still standing. No matter what is happening in Nigeria today, I firmly believe that we have a glorious future. God has a very special interest in our nation Nigeria and I want you to be encouraged,” he added, exuding hope for the country’s future despite its current challenges.
