Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu , has charged the Super Eagles to go for a fourth title at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Sanwo-olu, who received the AFCON trophy during its tour highlighted the city’s vibrant sports culture.
The Lagos State number one citizen expressed confidence in the potential of the Super Eagles to emerge champions in Cote d’Ivoire.
He underscored the importance of proper preparation and dedication in ensuring a stellar performance on the global stage.
“As Lagos State hosts the AFCON trophy, it’s clearly a testament to our commitment to sports development,”Sanwo-olu wrote on his X handle.
“We are a city pulsating with sports enthusiasm and we’re grateful to Visa and CAF for choosing Lagos for the trophy tour. Our support for sports development continues as the excitement builds for this prestigious tournament.

The Super Eagles are drawn in Group A with hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau for the 2023 AFCON.
Jose Peseiro’s side will face Equatorial Guinea in their first game at the Alhassan Quattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan on January 14.
