The Federation of Indigenous and Community Youths Organisations (FICYO) has declared its commitment to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on every policy that is geared towards tackling unemployment among youths in the country.

The group made this statement during its inaugural media chat and public forum titled “Nigerians’ Concerns and Expectations,” which took place in Lagos.

Statistics showed that over 60 percent of the population is under the age of 40. This demographic presents both opportunities and challenges for the country’s economic development.

The National President of FICYO, Amb. Akanni Michael stated that FICYO was established as a pro-youth group with a vision to make nation building a youth movement and a mission to productively and creatively engage young people in all communities across Nigeria.

He said that to begin with, youths are essentially indispensable stakeholders in the Nigeria project, adding that their expectations from governments and state institutions to drive their aspirations are high.

‘’There is no doubt that a lack of employment opportunities for young adults may lead them to resort to engaging in criminal activities or substance abuse.

‘’While we commend the accomplished projects of the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in rebuilding the Nigerian economy in the last 100 years, the president must eliminate every administrative obstacle to job creation, inclusive growth, and ensuring equitable labour practices because every youth is no less Nigerian and they deserve direct government interventions in their personal and community development,’’ he said.
