The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has elected Alhaji Yusuf Dantalle as its new chairman after an election in Abuja on Monday.
Following the election, Yabagi Yusuf Sani, who doubled as the National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and IPAC, will be handing over to Dantalle following his failure to secure another term.
The election was keenly contested between the incumbent Yabagi, who scored eight votes and Dantalle, who polled 10 votes.
The electoral chairman, Dan Nwanyanwu, declared Dantalle, the national chairman of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) the winner of the election.
“I will take the council to the next level. I will do it sincerely between me and God,” Dantalle told reporters after he was declared the winner.
“I will [also] take women in politics to the next level within this time that I’m in power,” he added.
Yabagi accepted defeat and congratulated Dantalle, promising to work with the new IPAC chairman and the new leadership of the Council.
