The beneficiaries who cut across various non indigenous ethnic groups in the state were on Sunday gathered at the Pompomari area of Maiduguri, where each of the widows received N10,000, while orphans received N5,000 cash respectively.

In appreciation of the gesture from the Governor, one of the widows who hailed from Kwara State, Mrs Elizabeth Lekon, described Zulum as a God’s gift to the people of Borno State, saying that despite offering free transport to the non-Indigenes in the state, he still remembered the widows and orphans who did not travel.

She prayed to God to grant the Governor Good health and wisdom in providing dividends of democracy to the citizens as well as absolute return of peace to the state.

Similarly, Ngozi Godwin, a native of Abia State, who said her husband died five years ago, commended Governor Zulum for the gesture done to the widows and orphans in the state, and prayed for the return of peace in the state.

Appreciating the Governor further, the coordinator of the monetary distribution on behalf of Governor Zulum, Chief Ugochukwu Egwudike, urged Governors in the South to emulate what their Borno State counterpart is doing to the non-indigenes in his state.
