A Civil Society Organization for Malaria Control, Immunization, and Nutrition (ACOMIN), dedicated to preventing, treating, and mitigating the impact of malaria, has advocated for the employment of qualified medical experts, provision of essential drugs, and necessary medical equipment to enhance healthcare services at primary health care centres in Cross River State.

The CSO urged the state and federal governments not to neglect the establishment of primary health care facilities in rural communities across the nation, to safeguard the lives of rural dwellers from jeopardy.

Pastor Effiong Udobong, the ACOMIN State Coordinator, delivered this charge during the visit of the State Advocacy Team (SAT) to the Woleche community in Yala LGA of Cross River State on Tuesday.

Udobong commended the Woleche community residents for their self-help efforts in constructing a community healthcare facility worth millions of naira, stating that this project signifies a positive step.

The State Coordinator encouraged other rural communities within the state to follow Woleche’s example by also constructing primary healthcare facilities to meet the medical needs of their people.

“As a community, we cannot solely rely on the state and federal government for construction at all times.

“It would be commendable if, as a community, we refrain from solely depending on the state and federal government for construction.

“What you have accomplished should serve as an example for neighbouring communities. Health, as they say, is wealth. Without good health, we amount to nothing. I commend you all for this progress,” Udobong stated.

In response, Mr Iyaji Augustine, the Social Mobilization Officer, representing the Head of Local Government Administrator (HOLGA) and Director of Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA) Yala LGA, commended the CSO for their efforts toward revitalizing primary healthcare facilities in the state.
