Katsina State government said it has been subsidizing to the tune of N6 million daily in its transport services to the people in the state.

The general manager of the Katsina State Transport Service Authority  (KSTSA), Haruna Musa, disclosed this in an interview with LEADERSHIP Friday in his office, where he said the transport firm is running both inter and intra state services across states of the north and 34 local government areas of the state.

He highlighted that the state transport firm provides N6 million subsidy in terms of transport fare reduction daily, and stressed that in a day about 5,382 passengers were conveyed to different destinations.

He said, “If you multiply N6 million by 30 days, it will give you an approximate of N180 million.

“If you are transporting yourself to Abuja, we charge N6,000 and others charge N9,000, and our buses are 18 seaters, multiply them by the number of vehicles and the numbers of the passengers, at least from Abuja road only in our main depot we put to use about 30 to 35 vehicles daily.

“So if you multiply 18 by 35 the number of vehicles, you find out that the money is enormous. And we are running vehicles to Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Sokoto, Jos as well as Lafia in Nasarawa State. Also Kano, Kaduna and what have you.
