The incident occurred when a 23-year-old male (name withheld) parked his Black-colored GLK 350 Benz SUV along Jakpa road, leaving his brother (name withheld) inside the vehicle while attending to other tasks.

He was alerted that the vehicle had been attacked by three armed men who forcibly took the vehicle with his brother inside, driving away to an unknown location.

Upon receiving this information, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Wale Abass, instructed the DPO of Ekpan, CSP Aliyu Shaba, to mobilize operatives to ensure the victim’s rescue and the arrest of the suspects involved.

In compliance with the CP’s directive, the DPO led a surveillance team attached to the Ekpan division for the operation. Based on technically generated intelligence, the team proceeded to a bush at Ekakpamre, Ughelli-South LGA. Upon being noticed by the kidnappers, a serious gun battle ensued. During this confrontation, two of the kidnappers sustained fatal injuries, while one managed to escape with gunshot wounds.
