The crisis within the Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) worsened on Tuesday as the party suspended its Chairman, Hon Fatai Adams, over alleged anti-party activities.

The State Working Committee (SWC) of the party cited the chairman’s conduct, which was deemed likely to tarnish the party’s reputation, as the reason for his suspension.

The SWC invoked section 58 (1B. C, F. H., and I) of the PDP Constitution as amended in 2017 to justify their action.

Those who signed the suspension notice of the chairman include Tola Alabere, Dayo Awude, Oluseye Olujimi, Amos Fadope, Moses Awofade, Boluwaji Bamidele, Olawumi Fasonu, and Kennedy Peretei.

In a statement issued and released to LEADERSHIP, the party directed the embattled Chairman to appear before the State Disciplinary Committee for further interrogation within the next week.

The party vowed to decisively address any incursion by the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), into its ranks.

Responding to the suspension, Adams claimed that the move to oust him from office was politically motivated to enable certain politicians to execute their plans for the forthcoming Akoko North East/North East Federal Constituency Bye-election.

Adams, reaffirming his position as the party’s state chairman, pledged to resist any attempts by unscrupulous elements to undermine the democratic values that the party upholds.

“This will not stand, we know what they are trying to do, they plan to remove me so that they can execute their evil agenda for the Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency Bye election and we will not fall for that,” he stated.
