Leaders and beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Phase 2 in Delta State have lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for displaying genuine intentions to transform the fortunes of the Niger Delta region, promoting growth, and fostering stability in Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the National Vice Chairman, Charles Akatakpo, and nine other leaders representing the Urhobo, Itsekiri, and Isoko extensions, the ex-agitators reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the prevailing peace in the Niger Delta.

Akatakpo expressed the collective satisfaction of all Delta State Amnesty beneficiaries with the strides accomplished under the current interim administrator, Maj. Gen. Tariye Barry Ndiomu. He pleaded with President Tinubu to consider appointing Maj. Gen. Ndiomu as the Coordinator of the programme.

He said that the leadership and beneficiaries of the Phase 2 Ex-agitators Forum of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) have distanced themselves from alleged claims made by certain forum chairmen.

Akatakpo cautioned against utilizing the ex-agitators and beneficiaries of Delta State for any unrecognized purposes, urging those involved to cease such activities immediately.

Akatakpo said, “The Urhorbo, Itsekiri and Isoko extensions, who are leaders and beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme Phase 2, have disassociated ourselves from the purported claims by those chairmen.

“We want to use this medium to warn those using the ex-agitators and beneficiaries of Delta State to stop because they are not recognized in any way.

“All Delta State Amnesty beneficiaries are very happy with the progress made so far by the current interim administrator, Maj. Gen. Tariye Barry Ndiomu, during the short period of time in office.

“We are pleading with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider and give the appointment to Maj. Gen. Tariye Barry Ndiomu as Coordinator of the program.

“We also assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the interim administrator to maintain the already existing peace in the Niger Delta and call on the federal government to arrest and prosecute anyone threatening to shut down any gas plant.”
