Police Rescue Rivers Hotelier Shot Thrice By Abductors

Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command, has rescued a kidnapped hotelier who was shot thrice by his abductors when he was attacked on December 19,2023 in the Artillery area of Port Harcourt.

The commissioner of police in the state, Olatunji Disu, disclosed this while briefing journalists at the Command headquarters in Port Harcourt.

Disu stated a total the sum of N25 million was paid to kidnappers by the family of the victim but they refused to release him.

He further stated that that at a point the family informed the C41 intelligence unit of the command, which swoop into action.

The commissioner of police said the operatives had encounter with the kidnappers towards the end of December 2023, but they escaped.

Disu stated that after the escape, the kidnappers took their operational vehicles to a panel beater to change the colour.

He said yesterday, operatives of the command went to Agbonchia forest at Eleme local government area of the state, where the victim was rescued.

The commissioner said one of the kidnappers was injured while exchanging gun fire with the police.

Disu, who said the kidnappers collect ransom in food flask, said the police were trailing other members of the gang with a view to arresting them.

He revealed that injured kidnapper as well as the victim is receiving treatment in the hospital.
