The major political parties in Taraba States have fielded candidates for the February 3, 2024 bye-election for Jalingo/Yoro/Zing federal constituency.

The election is to fill the vacuum created by the death of Hon. Ismaila Meihanchi who died immediately after he received a certificate of return after winning the election for the constituency under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

While the PDP nominated Sadiq Tafida Abbas to fly its flag for the election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) nominated Aminu Maleh, a two-term member of House of Representatives for the constituency.

The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) picked Aminu Liman while the Social Democratic Party (SDP) chose Innocent Jabanyang for the election.

LEADERSHIP gathered that while the PDP is working hard to consolidate on the structure which the late Maihanchi used to win the election, the two major opposition parties, NNPP and APC, were in a working alliance to clinch the seat.
