The Movement for the Survival of Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND), has described as unrealistic the six-month ultimatum handed down by the Senate Minority Caucus to President Muhammadu Buhari, to address the nation’s security challenges.

MOSIEND National President, Kennedy Tonjo West, who disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, stated that the ultimatum will not bring out any change in the security architecture of the country.

West insisted that the said National Assembly does not have the strong will to commence impeachment processes against the President.

He said: “With what is ahead and what is happening in the country, I can assure you that Mr. President will not honour that ultimatum by the Senate and six weeks for me is unrealistic.

“Why give six weeks? Six weeks is a month and two weeks. This is something you need to give 72 hours or due to protocol, at least one week. Probably, they are probably using this to buy time, knowing fully well that Mr. President is already tired.”

The MOSIEND leader dared the National Assembly to prove that it has the capabilities to checkmate the actions of the Presidency.

West said: “Since seven years, you have one person as National Security Adviser. How mang times has the Senate kick against it? How many times has the Senate caution Mr. President replacing the service chiefs? Have they done that?

“This government we have is a ‘man know man’ business. Let’s say a cabal business. So, Senate giving ultimatum to Mr. President to address insecurity or threatening to impeach him will not go anywhere.

“The Senate President does not have that gut to be able to tell Mr. President the truth. The Speaker of the House of Representatives does not also have that gut.”
