King Charles To Undergo Treatment For Enlarged Prostate

British Monarch King Charles III will next week undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate, Buckingham Palace said yesterday.

Sources from the Palace said the King’s condition is benign but he will undergo a “corrective procedure”, which means that his public engagements have been shifted for a brief period to enable him to recover.

Seventy-five -year –old King Charles will visit the hospital shortly after it was announced that the Princess of Wales is in hospital after undergoing abdominal surgery.

“In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate,” the statement said.

According to the NHS, Benign prostate enlargement is common in men over 50 and is not usually a serious condition. However, the condition does not mean the patient has an increased risk of developing prostate cancer.

The announcement from Buckingham Palace is the second significant piece of health news about senior royals to emerge yesterday.

According to sources the Princess of Wales will spend up to two weeks in hospital within which time she hopes to recover from abdominal surgery. Her procedure was planned and successful, Kensington Palace said. There were no details about her condition, but it is said not to be cancer-related.
