The operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State have foiled an attempt by a suspected kidnapper to abduct school children in Ilorin, the state capital.

The suspect, Yusuf Ajaka, 37, was apprehended on Thursday at Isale Asa, Opomalu area, Ilorin, allegedly trying to abduct school children who were returning from school.

The state commandant of NSCDC, Umar Mohammed, confirmed the arrest of the suspected kidnapper during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters in Ilorin on Friday.

“The suspect who claimed that he saw the victims on their way back from school and asked them to help him get dry fish was proved wrong by a discreet investigation, which revealed that the suspect forcibly changed the direction of the children from their normal route home in an attempt to kidnap them,” the NSCDC boss said.
