Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have neutralised 44 suspected terrorists and injured several others in a series of intelligence-led operations across Borno State and the Lake Chad region.
The operations, conducted on October 26 and 28, 2026, targeted terrorist elements at different locations in Kukawa local government area of Borno State and within the Lake Chad area, according to a statement issued by the Theatre Command.
The statement, signed by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, which was made available to Journalists on Thursday in Maiduguri, said troops engaged suspected terrorists at separate locations in Kukawa on October 26 following intelligence reports and surveillance observations.
Goni said a battle damage assessment indicated that 28 terrorists were neutralised, while six others reportedly sustained injuries during the engagements.
In a related development on October 28, the Maritime Component of the operation, deployed from the Naval Base Lake Chad in Baga, carried out offensive operations against terrorist targets within the Lake Chad area.
Preliminary assessments indicated that eight terrorists were neutralised, while 10 others reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The military also disclosed that an air interdiction mission disrupted a suspected terrorist operation involving the planting of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
According to the statement, the air operation neutralised eight operatives and destroyed their vehicle, motorcycles and IED materials, preventing the group from proceeding with its planned activity.
The Theatre Command said the operations demonstrated the sustained pressure being mounted on terrorist networks through coordinated, intelligence-driven joint operations.
It added that Operation HADIN KAI remained committed to degrading terrorist capabilities, restricting their freedom of action and protecting communities across the North-East.
The command urged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to support ongoing military operations and efforts to restore lasting peace and security in the region.
