In an effort to improve security and safety at Abuja markets, the Abuja Market Management Limited (AMML) has announced a new collaboration with various security agencies.
The cooperation came on the heels of the visit by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to Bwari Area Council where he met with security heads, traditional rulers and stakeholders to address rising concerns on kidnapping and other crimes.
According to the acting managing director of AMML, Yakubu Abbas, the organisation will team up with the FCT commands of the police, DSS, NSCDC, NDLEA, DRTS, FRSC and vigilante groups.
The joint effort aims to boost security manpower, improve surveillance, enhance intelligence gathering and install CCTV cameras in markets across the territory.
“The lives of people matter to our management. When markets are not safe, then nowhere is safe,” said Abbas.
He added that the collaboration was necessary because currently there are too few security personnel posted at major FCT markets like Wuse and Garki which attract large crowds.
