The promotion, which began on Wednesday, will run for four weeks in Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa, featuring over 180,000 prizes and offering exciting ways for participants to win while engaging in friendly competition.

Jørgen Arnesen, EVP Mobile at Opera, announced that the campaign is open to both new and existing Opera Mini users.

“AFCON is a thrilling time for football fans, and we’re excited to enhance the experience for our users with the chance to win fantastic prizes,” said Arnesen.

Participants can access the ‘Shake and Win’ campaign page via a floating button on the Opera Mini browser’s start page. By shaking their phones, players can win immediate rewards or puzzle pieces.

Collecting six unique pieces to complete a puzzle makes them eligible to win various prizes, including cash, MiniPay vouchers, and airtime.

Arnesen also highlighted that this edition of ‘Shake and Win’ includes extra fun elements, with participants able to earn additional shakes by completing various missions. These missions, such as using Opera Mini’s built-in Live Scores feature, provide more opportunities to win.

Additionally, Opera is introducing the Opera Cup, a competition where users from different countries can earn points for their nation by completing missions. These points are tallied on a leaderboard, and the country with the highest total will win the Cup and an increased prize pool, offering even more chances for users to win prizes and national glory.
