Mr Sagir Musa, commissioner for Information, Youths, Sports and Culture, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse yesterday.

Musa said the government would also strengthen the relationship between the state Football Association (FA) and the management of the club.

He added that the supporters club would also be strengthened to encourage and motivate players to double their efforts for the club.

The commissioner said the gesture was aimed at returning the club to a level it can reclaim its lost glories. “There is an effort now to reconstitute the management team of Jigawa Golden Stars which will be able to steer its affairs and take it back to its lost glory,” he  said.

According to him, the gesture was also part of the government’s plans to overhaul the sports sector of the state in order to see that it emerges stronger.

Musa further stated that the government was also able to bring back the club to play its home matches in Dutse, the state capital.

He said the gesture has built confidence among residents and football enthusiasts in the state.

“The stadium has been renovated to the extent that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Nigeria National League (NNL) and the state FA have certified that we can bring back the team to play their home matches here in Dutse.

“The news was widely celebrated across the state and everyone is optimistic that we’ve come to do our best to ensure that sports emerge stronger in Jigawa,” he added. (NAN)
