Abia State governor, Alex Otti has announced that his administration will fix flooding in Ariaria International Market, Aba, in 18 months from now after many unsuccessful attempts by previous administrations.
Otti gave the assurance during a monthly media interaction in Umuahia, the state capital, tagged “Otti Speaks” for February, adding that the project would be executed in phases.
He said as part of its infrastructure development drive, the administration had reconstructed and rehabilitated 26 roads in Aba, the commercial hub of the state and the capital.

While noting that six out of the number are due for inauguration, he stated that the zero-pothole programme of the administration had seen many hitherto near-impassable roads repaired.
He observed that the eight-month-old administration had also made great impacts on agriculture, health, security, education, provision of enabling business environment, sanitation and job creation, among others.
On the age-old absence of pipe-borne water across the state, the governor hinted that recently, he held discussions with two different groups that had shown interest to partner the administration on the way forward.
Otti, who noted with dismay the activities of touts and illegal revenue collectors, maintained that the administration has devised various measures to end their activities including arrest and prosecution.

He said the ongoing reforms and staff verification in the state civil service is very critical to the welfare of the civil servants and the administration’s bid to reposition the service for improved service delivery.
The governor used the forum to solicit the support of the people for the administration and stressed the importance of their imbibing the message of the state orientation agency to achieve the desired changes in the state.
