Police Arrest Suspected Bandit With 55 Cows In Kano

Kano State Police Command have arrested one Isa Lawal who specializes in armed robbery, kidnapping and cattle rustling in Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna State and have relocated to settle in Kano State.

The command said it recovered 55 Cows and six Sheep from the suspect who has confessed to having  intention of setting up a bandits’ camp in Gwarzo-Karaye Forest.

According to a statement signed by the deputy police public relations officer, ASP Abdullahi Hussaini, a team of police operatives led by SP Aliyu Mohammed Auwal, while on intelligence-led clearance operation at Karaye LGA, Kano State along Kaduna-Kano Border arrested the suspect, a 33 years old man of Kaya Village in Giwa local government area of, Kaduna State.

“During the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed that they were running out from their Maidaro Bandits Camp in Birnin Gwari LGA, Kaduna State because one of their gang leaders, Bashir of Malumfashi, Katsina State was killed during a bandits rival group fights which necessitated him to relocate to Kano State, Gwarzo-Karaye Forest to set up a new camp.

“A discrete investigation is in progress as the suspect is providing useful information that will assist the Police in tackling banditry in neighboring states.”

While urging the public to report any suspicious movement of persons or items to the police, the state commissioner of police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, commended the police operatives for their effort, resilience and commitment and directed the deployment of additional manpower and equipment to all Kano State borders.
