Niger Makes First Degree Teaching Benchmark In Secondary Schools

Niger State government has concluded plans to make first degree the minimum qualification of teachers in secondary schools across the state.
The commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Hadiza Mohammed, disclosed this during the post executive council meeting press briefing at the Government House Minna.

She stated that there was the need to revamp the educational system in the state, hence the plan to make first degree the minimum qualification to teach in secondary schools.
Dr Mohammed also disclosed that the state government will commence the Earlier Child Care Development Education (ECCDE) with the aim of restructuring community base teachers, to enable effective and efficient services delivery.

The commissioner further disclosed that the Niger State government is also set to provide free transportation, uniforms, and scholarships for students in the state.
In the same vein, she announced that from next academic session, academic activities will end on Thursday, while every Friday will be designated for teaching of skills acquisition to provide alternatives for over dependence on white collar jobs from the formative age.
