Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike has promised to give the six area councils a facelift through purposeful developmental projects that will benefit residents of the councils directly.
Wike, who made this known yesterday while flagging off 11 kilometre Kwali-Suku-Abo road, stressed that the people at grassroots also deserve quality infrastructural facilities, with a pledge to make a lead in the history of the FCT in that regard.
He also said that part of the move is to remodel some selected schools picked in the six area councils within the next six months, and charged the area council chairmen and the contractors handling the execution of the road projects to engage youths in their respective area councils to enable them in turn contribute to the growth of their individual family.
The minister further urged the residents of the area not to allow insecurity to stop the project, warning criminals in the territory that his administration is very prepared to deal with the insecurity.
Also, like other area councils visited before now, the minister who was honoured with a traditional title: “Kaura Kwali,” gave assurance that he will use the new title to fight insecurity and to assist the rural communities in Abuja.
He also solicited the support of people at the grassroots, for the administration of President Bola Tinubu, appealing for people’s patience.
The minister further charged Kwali area council chairman to stay with his people to develop the council, and assured the chairmen of his support, saying he will not tamper with area councils’ allocation, asking them to make judicious use of the opportunity.
