Signing Mbappe Would Have Been A Mistake For Barca – Deco

Barcelona sports chief Deco has insisted that it would have been a huge mistake if the team had signed Kylian Mbappe.
He made this known in a chat with Esport3, where he stated that Barca’s priority is to sign a coach that understands the club’s current reality.

“We will not make big signings and the new coach must understand this. We need a coach who knows what Barça is and understands our current reality.”
“Selling Frenkie de Jong and (Ronald) Araújo and bringing in Mbappé would be a mistake and would make the team worse.”

Deco also confirmed interest in Girona midfielder Aleix Garcia.
Barca made enquiries for Aleix last month and are likely to try again this summer.
“Xavi has also said that he likes him publicly.
“The loss of Gavi has been difficult.”

We will try to minimise it now with (Andreas) Christensen in the midfield. Aleix Garcia is a good player, who can be quite useful.
