1993 FIFA U17 World Cup winning coach, Ambassador Fanny Ikhayere Amun, has called on Coach Jose Peseiro-led Super Eagles to put behind their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final loss to Cote d’Ivoire and prepare for World Cup qualifiers.
Amun, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Lagos, warned the Eagles not relent on their efforts as the team was formidable enough to contest with others at the world level.

“Super Eagles is a team that can never be put aside, talk of strength skills and other qualities, the team can never be pushed aside at any tournament.
“The Eagles have done their best at the AFCON but the players need to do more by adding more dedication and strength in the field of play.
“World Cup qualifiers are still ongoing, the Eagles need to gear up and get prepared to qualify for the tournament as we have a team that we can be proud of,” he said.
Amun urged the Eagles not to underrate any team as it showed during the AFCON final on Sunday.

“The Super Eagles and Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire are teams that cannot be underrated, Eagles should learn their lesson and get prepared for the world cup in 2026,” he said.
NAN reports that Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 home draw by minnows Lesotho in their Group C World Cup qualifiers opener before coming from behind to pick up a point against Zimbabwe in their second match.
Coach Jose Peseiro, came under heavy criticism after failing to get the best out of the vast array of attacking talents at his disposal after the Lesotho game.
