While five people died in the first accident which occurred around the Foursquare Gospel Camp in Ajebo area of Obafemi-Owode local government area of the road corridor, two others lost their lives in the second accident which happened at the old Toll Gate at Ogere in the Ikenne local government area of Ogun State.

The spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okó, who confirmed the death of the five victims at the Foursquare Camp, said the accident involved a passenger Mazda bus with registration number SMK 685 YG, which rammed into a moving “HOWO” truck marked: ZE- 121 0G.

Attributing the cause of the accident to “tyre burst, speed and fatigue which led to loss of control”, Okpe said the driver of the Mazda  bus fell asleep on the wheel and ran into the moving  truck, resulting in the accident.

The public relations officer of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the second accident at Ogere Remo, said the crash involved a “one way” commercial motorcycle popularly called “Okada” with registration number: GGM  012 VV, which collided with a BMW JEEP marked: KSF 512 FW that was in a high speed at the expressway.
