Medical professionals and stakeholders gathered at the Chida International Hotel Penthouse Hall in Utako, Abuja, for the launch of ActiGraft, a groundbreaking medical device developed by IES Medical NG Limited in partnership with Lone Star Global Consult Ltd.

The event took place on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

ActiGraft offers advanced wound care for chronic and hard-to-heal wounds, presenting a novel solution using the patient’s own blood. The device initiates and moderates the healing process, promotes vascular growth and releases growth factors, attracts macrophages to fight infections, and acts as a scaffold for faster healing.

It’s an innovation in wound care, with Nigeria being the second African country after South Africa to have such product available for use.

The device remains active on the wound for a prolonged period (seven days), effectively reducing pain, healing time, nursing visits, and overall costs associated with wound care.

ActiGraft is tailored for various types of wounds, including chronic wounds, diabetic and neuropathic ulcers, pressure and vascular ulcers, traumatic wounds, anal fistula, surgical and post-surgical wounds, stoma removal wounds, skin tears, internal cysts, pilonidal sinus, and gunshot wounds.

The event featured esteemed guests, including Special Guest of Honour, Senator (Dr) Manzo George Anthony FRCS, and Keynote Speaker, Dr. Monday Yilkudi, and MD/CEO of Lone Star Global Consult Ltd., Dr. David O. Ukoha, delivered insightful remarks on the significance of the device in revolutionising wound care.

Dr Precious Ogboru, the Senior Special Assistant on Health to the President of the Senate commended the launch of ActiGraft which marks a significant milestone in the medical field, offering hope and effective treatment for patients suffering from chronic and hard-to-heal wounds. With its innovative approach and promising outcomes, he was optimistic that the product is poised to accelerate and improve the healing process, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for individuals with incurable wounds.
