“The states have unique challenges and opportunities in the education sector and through this partnership, we aim to address them comprehensively and strategically.

“The first activity, which is where we are now, encompasses the training of EMIS, education managers of the states on evidence-based, gender transformative, equity and disability-inclusive education.

“Our approach will be holistic, addressing issues such as access to education, reduction of the number of out-of-school children, disability inclusiveness in education, quality of teaching and learning management and efficiency, infrastructure development, teacher training, curriculum enhancement and stakeholders’ engagement and funding,” he stated.

The acting director-general who was represented by the desk officer, UNICEF, Dr Sunday Adegbesan urged participants to ensure the smooth actualisation of the aims of the project to empower children with quality education that they need to actualise their full potentials.

Field Officer, UNICEF Bauchi, Mr Raphael Aiyedepe said UNICEF would continue to support causes aimed at enhancing the education sector of states in the country.
