The Plateau State government is to build an international market that will serve not only people of the state but the North Central, North East geo-political zone and the West African sub-region, the commissioner for commerce and industries, Hon. Musa Haruna Sule, has said. Speaking during a visit to the proposed site of the market in Jos South local government area,

he said; “We are here to see the possible suitable location to site the international market. We have just seen two sites, we will go back to seek  technical advice because we are looking at an international market, not just a domestic one. A market that will not only take care of Plateau State but the people of North Central, North East and by large extent West African sub-region.”

He added; “Before the Terminus Market got burnt in 2021, it was not only serving Plateau, but the entire North East. We want to see a situation where we have a market that will take care of the population of the North Central, the North East and decongest Terminus and the popular Ahmadu Bello Way.

“For now, we are at the primary stage, but with the zeal and the determination of Governor  Caleb Mutfwang, very soon we shall unveil to the public the prototype of the market and work on the site will commence.

He assured traders in the state who are struggling for space, loitering, hawking and causing traffic gridlock around the Ahmadu Bello Way and the ever busy Terminus area that arrangements had been concluded to build the  market for them to alleviate their suffering, adding that when completed it would improve internally generated revenue and bosst the economy of the state.
