As part of efforts to encourage young girls and women to embrace science, the Technology Incubation Center(TIC), Enugu has sensitised female students from different secondary schools in Enugu on scientific innovation.
The students were sensitised on how to exploit new ideas to generate new techniques, products and processes.
TIC, Enugu is one of 36 centers being supervised by the National Board For Technology Incubation ( NBTI) , Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology.
In a welcome address at the one day workshop, the Center Manager of TIC, Enugu, Mrs Thelma Ifeoma Nwabueze explained that the event was part of activities to mark the 9th International Day for Women and Girls in Science Leadership.
She stated that TIC, Enugu is one of the 36 centers spread across the country whose activities and operations are being supervised by National Board For Technology Incubation ( NBTI) , under aegis of the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology.
Mrs Nwabueze said it was an honour to stand before the students to celebrate and recognize the invaluable contributions of women and girls in the field of science.
She noted that in a world that constantly evolves , the role of women in science remains pivotal , shaping not only the scientific landscape but also contributing significantly to the pursuit of peace.
The TIC , Center Manager thanked the students for participating in the workshop with the theme ‘A New Era of Sustainability’ with a sub theme” Think Science, Think Peace’
She encouraged them to go back to their destinations and teach others what they learnt.
The schools that participated in the training were Precious International College, Angelic Brains International school, Federal Government College and Unique and Fine International School, Enugu.
