The convener of the group Lawyers Network for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu (LANBAT) Mr. Dotun Ajulo has cautioned those sentimental about Muslim -Muslim ticket of All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate and his running mate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima to stop it, saying religion has never played a role in the governance of Nigeria since inception.

Ajulo said this during a Lagos Awareness Walk, in support of Tinubu presidential bid on Wednesday in Lagos.

He noted that if religion had been played up in the governance of the country, the nation would have advanced more than how it is, particularly if the tenets of the two major religions have been strictly followed.

He recalled that it was Tinubu when he was governor of Lagos State that returned missionary schools taken over by the military administration to their owners, which is proof that he is not religiously biased.
“Those playing up religious sentiment are only mischievous, religion has nothing to do with politics.
“We will not take you through the constitutional provisions about religion considering the secularity of Nigerians.”

“If the Christians and Muslims have remained within the tenets of the scripture, the country will not be where it is today.”

Speaking on the essence of the awareness, Ajulo said it is to have a voice ahead of 2023 to support a candidate.
