Unspecified number of bandits have invaded Gidan Busa in Doka Ward of Kachia local government area of Kaduna State, killing two residents and abducting 16 residents of the area on Friday night.

A source from the area, who will not want his name mentioned, said five persons sustained gunshot wounds and were receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility in the area.

This is coming in the wake of the killing of Isyaku Boderi, a dreaded bandit leader, said to have masterminded several high-profile attacks including the kidnapping of Yauri College girls in Kebbi State, Greenfield University students in Kaduna State, and attack on the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), including abductions and killings of many villagers in both Niger and Kaduna States.

The bandit kingpin, Boderi, was killed by troops of 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna, around Bada/Riyawa general areas of Chikun and Igabi LGAs in Kaduna State on Wednesday.

Boderi and his associates were ambushed and neutralised by military troops after a fierce gun battle.

However, on Friday night, the bandits struck again at Gidan Busa, shooting sporadically, killing two and kidnapping at least 16 residents of the area.

The source disclosed that the incident occurred around 11:30pm when the villagers were asleep.

He also disclosed that in the residence of one Alhaji Hassan, no fewer than eight persons were abducted while his boy as well as a lady were killed and five others sustaining gunshot wounds.

He said, “Yesterday night (Friday) bandits came to Gidan Busa and abducted 16 residents of the area, killing two while five sustained gunshot injuries and currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

“In the residence of one Alhaji Hassan, the bandits abducted eight persons including his wife and children and killed one of his boys and a female. The incident occurred at about 11.30pm. Those that sustained gunshot wounds are receiving treatment in the hospital.”

As at the time of this report, there was no official confirmation of the incident from either the state government or the state police command.

However, when contacted on the telephone, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Mansir Hassan, told our Correspondent that he was on transit and that he would reach out to the necessary authorities and get back to our correspondent.

“I’m driving now. I will get back to you once I reach out to the Area Commander of the area,” he said.

But, as of the time of filing the report, the police spokesman has not done so
