The proposed creation of state police will bail out Nigeria from the current security challenges, a clergyman, Apostle Godspower Udjor, has said.
He said the country needs plausible security measures and a more community focused policing structures to ensure the safety of life and property across the country.

Udjor, who is the senior pastor of the Champion Faith Assembly, spoke on the imperative of state police during his birthday sermon in Abuja.
He said state policing requires time and resources before it can be effectively implemented, but asserted that it would bring law enforcement closer to the people especially communities.

“State policing will salvage Nigeria’s economy for example that criminals who live among people are not ghosts. If we allow for more localised control over security matters it will be easy to fish out criminals and their activities among us. In a community where everyone knows a particular thief, you call him and give him the garden to watch over. He will make sure nobody tampers with the chicken because he will be held responsible.

“The Christians in Nigeria are praying to God to salvage the country; we are not relenting. We preach sermons and sing praises to calm people down; hunger is affecting everyone.
I believe so much in Nigeria not just because of our mineral resources but our human resources, let us leverage on our numbers and also go into agriculture which will be beneficial to all of us.”

The cleric said if the federal government makes it compulsory for every family to go into agriculture there will be enough food in the country.
The conflict everywhere, he said, “is only because people are hungry and a hungry man is an angry man.”
