The people of Niger State have lauded the peaceful nature of the emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouq Bahago, on his 67th birthday and 36th year on the throne.
The state governor Mohammed Umaru Bago in a message by his chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, showered encomiums on the celebrant.
He described the emir as a man of peace, who has been steadfast in sustaining peaceful coexistence in his emirate.
The governor recounted the immense contributions, passion and wise counsel of the traditional ruler to the growth and development of not just his emirate, but the state.
He said in the last 36 years of the emir on the throne of the forefathers, he has upheld the sanctity of cultural traditions through purposeful leadership.
While felicitating with the emir, the governor assured him that his administration is not resting on its oars to ensure that the insecurity bedevilling parts of his emirate is halted.
Similarly, in a statement released by the press secretary to the deputy governor, Ummikhaltume Abdullahi Kuta, he said his principal, Yakubu Garba, noted that the emir has demonstrated an uncommon exemplary leadership in uplifting the lives of his subjects, especially in the education sector through the Emirate Educational Programme.
Also, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Niger State council in a statement by the secretary, Mohammed Usman Chiji, recognised the peaceful nature of the emir that has made the emirate the “ melting pot of unity” of the state by accepting all as one.
