Tinubu’s Wife Commissions Varsity’s e-Learning Centre

Wife of Nigeria’s president, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has commissioned a digital economy centre (DEC), also known as E-learning facility at the University of Cross River (UNICROSS).

At the ceremony held at UNICROSS campus yesterday, Tinubu ‘s wife said the centre would assist the students to pursue their degree programmes in the institution and become self-reliant.

The facility which was set up by National Information Technology Development (NITDA) in collaboration with Renewed Hope Initiative will open opportunities to UNICROSS students upon graduation.

Representing President Tinubu’s wife, the wife of the Senate President, Uloma Godwin Akpabio, said Tinubu’s wife is never tired of assisting vulnerable people.

“I am not tired of assisting the vulnerable. As students, it is not easy to study without ICT and that is why the president’s wife has established this centre.

“Access to digital technology can open up new doors and opportunity for young people. 

The formal opening of this centre marks a strategic step in setting the path for Nigerian youths to participate and thrive in the digital revolution.

“This centre can unlock the potential that will enable the youths contribute meaningfully to academic growth and innovation in facing challenges.

“Technology has become a positive tool in our world shaping everything from communication to commerce to education and healthcare.

“As students, it is not easy to study without ICT that is why Her Excellence in collaboration with NITDA established this,” she said.

An engineer with the project management unit of NITDA, Adamu Sabo, stated that the state of-the- art equipment such as high end computers, e-learning resources, state- of -the -art  server with quality content will aide researchers with high quality  e-journals to carry out their researches.
