The Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs has launched a five-year strategic plan which will serve as the basis for all departments and agencies in the ministry to develop their activities.
Unveiling and launching the plan at the Ya’Adua Centre in Abuja, Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Hon. Zaphaniah Jisalo, described the plan as a proof of the Ministry’s dedication to its responsibilities of carrying out special assignments targeted at grassroots development and effective policy implementation.
Jisalo highlighted the duty of his ministry to involve diligent monitoring and authorization of payments for constituency projects as well as evaluating policies and projects across government bodies.
The minister added that his ministry’s responsibilities also cuts across fostering harmonious relations within the tiers of government and international entities.
While explaining that the activities of the ministry resonates with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda which he said aligns with the key principles of job creation, innovation and economic growth, the minister also stressed that its strategies encompass supporting local production, reducing imports, supporting the farmers, nurturing emerging sectors, empowering the vulnerable and ensuring accessible healthcare, education and housing.
He said these underscore the importance of collaboration and partnership, harnessing the collective strength of governments, businesses, civil society and citizens alike.
“With unwavering determination and a sense of shared purpose, we will execute this plan together, having knowledge of the trust bestowed upon us.
“We understand that to achieve our objectives, we must act with efficiency, accountability and transparency. This plan provides a clear direction, yet remains flexible to adapt to the evolving needs and dynamics of our society and global landscape”, Jisalo stated.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Ms. Ibiene Patricia Roberts said that the occasion marked the first time the ministry developed a strategic plan since its creation.
Ms Roberts noted that the ministry is unique in its mandate and functions as it cuts across all government sectors thereby giving it the strategic position to be involved in various multi-sectoral activities for national growth and development in the socio-economic aspects.
