NTIC 2024 STEAM Fair Ignites Students’ Scientific Exploration

As the Nigeria Tulip International College (NTIC) presented her 2024 annual Science Technology Engineering Art Math (STEAM) fair, the students showcased their inquisitive minds and innovative ideas, pushing the limits of what’s possible in the world of Science.
The students of the school across the country displayed artistic, scientific and technology-oriented inventions geared towards creating a better future for the human race.

This year’s fair has shown the innovative capabilities of students of the school as they demonstrated their readiness to make an impact on the society through their inventions.
It also showcased various student projects, artistic displays,interactive sessions, medical check-ups, and educational advancement opportunities, including exhibition stands and others.
The fair, which recently held at the school premises in Abuja served as a platform for the exhibition of amazing inventions by students, with the aim to make the students become innovators of the future and share their experiments and ideas with other schools.

The occasion, graced by the Minister for Sports, representative of the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology and other prominent dignitaries, witnessed exceptional and imaginative designs from various departments, including Art, Science, and Cultural displays.
Speaking at the fair, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji called for the establishment of model schools across the country to encourage the knowledge of science and technology that would position Nigeria for modernisation.

Nnaji, who was represented by the Director and Head of Department of Chemical Sciences, Technology and Development in the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Mfon Bassey, said there is the need to have model schools in all parts of the country to boost the knowledge of young ones and build the road to the nation’s technological advancement.

The Minister commended NTIC for being a pacesetter in the development of science and technology, saying: “We pray that you would grow better and better and spread to other geopolitical zones of the country so that we begin to have model institutions that will boost the knowledge of our young ones across the country.”

According to him, various policies are underway to boost development in nanotechnology and other scientific and technological development in the country.
On his part, the Managing Director of NTIC, Mr. Fevzullah Bilgin, said the STEAM Fair is a way to inspire and encourage students to pursue science-oriented concepts from primary to secondary levels.
He emphasised the importance of creativity and innovation in keeping up with the fast-changing technological age.
Adding, Bilgin said the STEAM Fair is a manifestation of its commitment to providing a platform for students to showcase their talents and explore their interests in scientific and artistic fields.
He said, “We have been providing quality education for the past 25 years, and we understand the significance of creativity and innovation in the learning process.

“The NTIC STEAM Fair has been an annual event until the COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020 and 2021. We are grateful that we have all overcome that phase, not only in Nigeria but also in the world generally.
“We believe that young minds have a tendency for creativity and only need those who will encourage and enhance it around them. This also confirms the words of Maxime Lagacé, that ‘a dull mind gets bored easily, but a curious mind expands forever’. The Science: The Pursuit of Understanding.

“Science is the bedrock of human understanding, a relentless journey to unravel the mysteries of the universe. Through meticulous observation, experimentation, and analysis, scientists uncover the fundamental laws that govern our world. From the microscopic intricacies of cells to the vast expanse of the cosmos, science provides us with the tools to comprehend the intricacies of existence.

“Moreover, the scientific process is inherently creative. It demands curiosity, imagination, and the courage to question established norms. In this way, science and art share common ground, as both are fueled by the innate human desire to explore the unknown and make sense of our surroundings,” he said.
